Camera Learnin'

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

I am slowly but surely figuring out this camera and what we can do with it.

We have been trying different things and getting a feel for what we like to shoot and what looks best.  Luckily we live in an area full of great things to take photos of and have planned our weekends this summer around photographing things in the Metroplex.

Yesterday we headed over to one of the best places to engage in outdoor activities in the DFW area...White Rock Lake.  It has around 10 miles of walking/running/riding path around a huge lake that is full of rowers and sailboats.  I'm looking forward to going there on a saturday and seeing what we can capture.

Last night we tried to arrive at sunset time but unfortunately a storm was rolling in so it was cloudy and the light wasn't great.  I did get a couple of great shots.  Below is my favorite.

One of my favorite people in the world, Traci, is an amazing photographer and she takes lots of photos from this angle so I thought I'd give it a try and see what happened. This was my last attempt and I love it.  It was fun to see the world from a bug's eye view.  Also, I was glad that a cyclist didn't come and smush me while I was taking it!

I'll share several of my other favorites throughout the rest of the week.

Love it! You should do a whole series that narrates the life of a bug through photography.

P.S. I am assuming you will bring your camera when you come visit... if that is a correct assumption, would you take some cool pictures of my motorcycle??

Thanks Tyler and Monica!

Yes, Ty I'll totally take some cool photos of your bike. We should take it somewhere cool like the train depot or downtown.
