A Quick Update

Thursday, January 14, 2010

It took me forever to get in the holiday spirit this year. So I guess it's only appropriate that I finally took down the decorations this week. Not that it took very long considering this was my Christmas tree.

Yup...a branch stuck in a giant pickle jar of unbreakable ornaments. I went ALL out this year. Yes, I did.

But it was okay because then we went back to Idaho where there was snow!!

And all of my sisters (in law...but they are more like sisters to me because I love them all soooo much!!)

And family pictures!

And lots and lots and lots of cookies.

And I got to meet my niece, Juliette, for the first time! So precious!!

And now we are home and it is 2010...crazy. For some reason the beginning of a new year makes me want to clean. So I've made it my personal mission to seek out and destroy all clutter pods in my house. I tend toward pack rattedness at times and I don't want to do that anymore. I loooooove clean, tidy and organized closets. So I made the decision that I don't want to hang onto things in hopes of "someday" using them. The new rule is that unless I can find an immediate use for something or have plans to do something with it in the very near future I am either chucking or donating it.

Let's just say the process has been very very liberating - literally - there have been a LOT of things sent to find new homes either at the dump or Salvation Army.

An unexpected side effect has been how it has pushed me towards being more creative in my use of objects.

For instance, a couple of months ago I found one of those old typeset drawer things at my local thrift store. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it but I loved it so I brought it home and stared at it for a while and then shoved it in a closet.

This week I found a good use for it. It is now the home for my favorite and often used pieces of jewelry!

But my most favorite of all reorganization projects has been my craft room. I've been slowly working on it for a few months now and it's still not complete. But it's very close and it makes me extremely happy to be in there.

Here's a glimpse of what I've been up to....

...This is a shelf of some of my favorite things, including those wee jars which were a Christmas gift from my friend, Lisa. I have NO idea what will live in them but I love the possibilities!

I'll leave you with one last photo. It's been something I've been wanting to do for about a year but just never got around to it.

An inspiration board filled a mix of stuff other people have created, stuff I've created and stuff I just think is pretty.

That's about it for now! What have you been up to this year?

Thanks for sharing your pictures! Seriously did we not get a picture together over Christmas? I'm terrible about that. Miss you...move HERE! :-)

Those little jars are GREAT for buttons or other little doo-dads you use for your crafting projects. BYW, LOVE your Christmas tree.
