Dehydration Due to Crying

Monday, December 17, 2007

I have been crying all day.

I cannot remember the last time I was this sad.

See, we have finally found the perfect home for our dog, Lucy. She can’t come with us to Texas.

Well, technically she can. It’s not like Newfoundland’s are illegal there or anything like that. It’s more that she would absolutely HATE it down there. She isn’t really fond of temperatures over, say 50 and well, Texas isn’t really known for its chilly weather.

So, after much prayer and discussion, Kevin and I are making the hardest decision we have ever had to make. We are doing the best thing we can do for her. We are finding her a new family.

The family we found for her has 7 kids, another dog and a big yard. Basically she is in doggie paradise. She went for a trial run this weekend to see how everyone would mesh. It went so well that they didn’t want to give her back.

It is because of this that we are upping the time frame of when we she will go to her new home. Our original time frame was in January….it is now Thursday.

We are going to pick her up tonight and then take her back over there Thursday night.

Thursday.

I better go drink some more water because between now and then the tears…they will be flowing.

I will really miss her sweet face.

I'm so sorry, Shell. I'm so glad that you found her such a good home that you're willing to give her up in just a few days. I love you and I'll be praying for you. Hang in there and cry all you want.

How sad about your dog! We live in the Dallas area and our golden retriever is absolutely miserable about four months out of the year. I think you are making a very kind, however painful, decision for your sweet dog who would be even worse off than ours. I'm sorry you have to leave her though! I hope you like Dallas. Since you have access to two big cities, there is a lot to do here. Especially if you like to shop or eat! Hopefully you will be near a great church and some wonderful people.
Blessings,
Amanda
