Road Trip: Day 2

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Yesterday started off as any good road trip should.

Cheap hotel continental breakfast followed by some local sight seeing.

And some BEEEEa UUUUUUUUTIFUL sightseeing it was. We went on a driving tour of Arches National Park. I hope to go back there some day and hike around.

Here is some of the awesomeness we saw.

After that we picked up some lunch at Terriyaki Stix (YUM!!) and went merrily on our way. We were listening to our audio book, enjoying the scenery and were about 25 miles outside of Albuquerque when disaster struck.

DUM DUM DUUUUUMMMMM

We ran completely out of gas.

In the middle of nowhere. Nothing but us and miles of scrub brush and barbed wire for miles and miles and miles. Not a decent restroom or Starbucks to be found.

For reallies. I'm not lyin'. I wish I were, too, because that decent restroom part would have come in handy, if you know what I mean.

I was proud of myself because I only freaked a wee bit. And didn't yell a Kevin at all. Nope, I didn't.

Did I mention that we ran out of gas at sunset and that after about 20 minutes it was pitch black. Oh, well, we did. Good thing I don't watch any of those scary hitchhiker movies cuz I think my freakout level would have gone up dramatically.

2 hours later after a couple calls to our insurance company...our knight in shiny armor finally arrived via beat up Ford Ranger. And just like that we were on our way once again, however, not as merrily as before.

About a half hour later we, pulled into Albuquerque and arrived at the most lovely Hacienda Antigua and all was right with the world once again.

I pretty much wanted to move in and stay forever.

(Please ignore the unmade bed, these pictures were taken this morning and well....I didn't want to make the bed just to take a picture, I'm lazy like that.)
